I am always on the look out for a good moisturizer that will keep my skin hydrated throughout the winter months. For quite some time now I've used facial oil before bed with brilliant results, so I recently decided to invest in some body oil to use in place of my regular moisturizer.
One of the main pros of body oil is that it helps to lock moisture in, rather than just sit on the skins surface like a moisturizer. A good tip is to apply the oil while your skin is still damp, straight out of the shower is perfect. Not only does this make the oil super easy to apply, it also maximises the moisture that is absorbed! I love how quick and easy it is to jump out of the shower and smother the skin in a lovely oil. I find it leaves the skin super soft for the whole day and night!
Since being pregnant I have really noticed patches of my skin getting super dry as well as my eczema becoming more itchy. I personally find applying oil really helps to sooth this.
A couple of my fav oils are pure coconut oil and the Palmers skin therapy oil. Both are quite different in terms of feel after applying.
Coconut oil - this is super moisturizing. I like to apply this to my growing baby bump each night and anywhere my skin is particularly dry. The only downfall with coconut oil is that is it very 'oily' and takes a while to sink in. So may not be the best option if you are looking to get dressed and go out soon after a applying. However I would say this is perfect to apply before bed if you want to wake up super moisturized.
As an extra tip coconut oil is also amazing to use as an overnight hair mask, as well as on your eyelashes to help them grow.
Palmers skin therapy oil - I really love this oil!! It is a 'dry' oil meaning it's absorbed very quickly into the skin and doesn't leave you feeling sticky or too oily. I personally find the smell lovely too, like the other palmers products. I like to use this on a daily basis all over my body when I get out of the shower. It leave the skin lovely and soft with a lasting affect for the whole day. I would definitely recommend giving this a try if you are on the look out for a new moisturizer!
I hope this blog post was helpful for some of you and perhaps inspired you to give body oil a try if you have not done so already. As always if you have any similar products you would recommend please leave a comment below and thank you so much for reading!
