Happy 2019!! Can’t quite believe I’m saying that, I still feel like it should be a few months away! Anyway here we are, I hope you all had a lovely break over the holidays and ate as much food/chocolate as you could... I know I pretty much lived on junk food throughout December whoooops!
The new year always seems to call for the latest new diet trends, fitness goals, getting healthy, weight loss ect ect. So I thought it would be the perfect time to post about my experience of trying lipoglaze Cryotherapy fat freezing and lipofirm body contouring.
A little background on my diet and thoughts on my body... I basically eat what I want when I want. I've never really been one to diet and I am a huge lover of chocolate and cakes! Anything sweet is my weakness!
I used to be really tiny, but like most people as i've got older and also had a child i've gained weight/curves. To give you an idea I'm now around a UK size 10 i'd say. In my early twenties I was probably a size 6 with a 25 inch waist. My hips used to measure 32 inches pre baby and now they are 36.
I don't really dislike my bigger body it's just different to me. To be honest I think I prefer my bigger hips and bum now. However I do have a tiny ribcage so I feel like weight on my tummy can easily be seen and looks a bit out of place next to my small waist. This was one of the main reasons I wanted to try some sort of lipo... I wanted to loose fat only in a targeted area and I don't think I would have been able to do this with dieting.
Does it really work? Is it worth it? What even is it? All will be answered!
So let's start with the basics... what is fat freezing and how does it work?
Cryotherapy also known as ‘fat freezing’ is the latest non-surgical fat reduction method. It claims to be a good alternative to the traditional liposuction due to it being non invasive with minimal downtime.
A vacuum head and cooling plates are used over the targeted area. Initially the plates heat up to encourage the fat cells to separate; the plates then drop in temperature to -5c to -9c for between 45 and 60 minutes. The time and temperature needed for the treatment varies and depends on your body fat, composition of fat and age.
Fat cells are targeted by the fat freezing treatment process of Cryolipolysis (Cryotherapy). These adipocyte cells are typically rich with saturated fatty acids which are particularly sensitive to cold, which is why this cooling technology is so effective. Other cells, such as skin tissue, blood vessels and the nervous system are not so sensitive to freezing and remain completely unaffected by this fat freezing treatment.
Once the treatment has taken place the large majority of the targeted fat cells will be liquid and subsequently removed through your liver and kidneys in the same natural way as other toxins
This is just a short overview of what fat freezing is but if you want a more detailed description there is a video on the Clinic 33 website explaining the treatment fully (this is the clinic I chose for my treatments).
What does the treatment feel like... is it painful?
The treatment itself is a very strange feeling it's pretty hard to explain! It basically feels like your skin is being pulled and squeezed really tight, which is exactly what is happening I guess! The hot and cold sensations aren't painful at all it just feel really strange. I'm gonna be real here... it's not the most pleasant experience ever. In fact it's pretty uncomfortable for the first few minutes, but the good thing is the discomfort doesn't last too long! I also think the discomfort level will depend where on your body you have done and how much 'fat' you have. For example my arms were a lot more uncomfortable than my tummy, I totally wish i'd taking a friend along to laugh with me when I had my arms done!
The 'recovery' & maintenance after treatment
As described when looking into the treatment, there isn't really any 'recovery' time. Apart from being a bit red and bruised I felt totally normally and wasn't in any pain after the treatment.
The only thing you have to do is drink lots of water, 3 litres a day! Since having the treatment done i've kept up drinking 2 litres of water a day which has been so beneficial for my health and skin, who knew something as simple as water could do so much good!
Don't expect to see any immediate results by the way! It takes 4-8 weeks to notice any difference due to the process of the fat cells being flushed out.
At Clinic 33 they also give you a healthy meal plan you can follow if you want to. As it is a weightloss clinic some patients may be looking to loose a lot of weight all over so having a meal plan done can be really helpful.
My overall thoughts on Lipoglaze Fat Freezing...
It's now been a few months since I had the treatment so I feel like I can give a good overview of my results so far. Sooooo the big question, does it actually work? In short yes, but the changes for me haven't been dramatic (not that I was expecting them to be). I would say i've lost around an inch, this is without following a strict diet. Something I have noticed though is that throughout December when I was eating loads of junk I haven't got any bigger around my stomach yaaay. I'm not sure if this is down to the fat freezing, but I heard this being the case before. So thumbs up for that!
Obviously I think with something like this you need to manage your expectations. 1 session isn't going to give you dramatic results like full on liposuction would. But I do think if you had the treatment done a few times it could make a big change. Overall, if you have a stubborn bit of fat that you want shrinking I think this is worth a shot!
On to the LipoFIRM Body Contouring
I'm going to throw this out there right away... I really loved this treatment! Unlike the fat freezing, lipofirm is SO relaxing to have done and basically felt like a hot stone massage on my face/neck.
I chose to have this treatment done on my chin/neck to help define the jawline.
What is Lipofirm and how does it work?
Lipofirm is anon-invasive fat reduction and skin tightening treatment. It's also used to help reduce cellulite.
The technology consists of radio frequency, deep volumetric heating, combined with internal muscle contraction and external mechanical force. Together they give maximum fat removal and lymphatic drainage as well as skin tightening (contouring) and cellulite reduction.
The radio frequency energy generates heat through tissue resistance in both the dermal and subcutaneous layers. Selective and focused electro-heating of the skin stimulates and increases fat metabolism in the subcutaneous fat layer and collagen remodelling in the dermal layer. In the subcutaneous fat layer, the thermal effect accelerates the natural fat metabolism process and the release of liquid fat from the fat cells
My understanding is that on the face it also helps tone up the muscles which in turn helps lift the loose skin and give a more defined look!
Treatment - It's worth noting that this is not a one off treatment. You will need a course of around 7 weekly treatments. It's then worth maintaining every couple of months or when you feel you need a little extra. As I mentioned above the best comparison I can give to how it feels is like a hot stone massage on the face. There is a part at the end of the treatment where the machine pulses, which is a really weird feeling!
My overall thoughts of Lipofirm
Overall I think this is a really good treatment and I would recommend it. After a few sessions I started to notice results, my jawline seemed more defined and chin seemed to have less fat. I noticed this especially when taking photos of myself! It also seemed to help the skin on my cheeks look plumper and more youthful. For a similar price to a regular facial you can't go wrong really! I've heard that this is also a fantastic treatment for cellulite, which I can totally see working well.
I really hope this post was interesting/helpful to some of you! If you have any questions please feel free to ask :-) I'd be happy to help where I can! Or if you are after a more medical answer then you can always message Clinic 33.
