Hello my lovelys and welcome back!
Today i'm going to be talking about my experience getting microneedling! I had my first session recently and thought it was something that you guys might be interested in reading about :-)
So first thing's first, what is microneedling?
I'm sure many of you have heard of microneedling or dermaroller and seen the photo of Kim Kardashians bloody face and wandered what an earth is that?! In a nutshell microneedling basically puts hundreds of tiny little controlled punctures all over your face, which then forces your skin into repair mode. The Microneedling procedure is aimed at stimulating the natural processes of production and regeneration of collagen.

I'd heard of microneedling in passing but when I really became interested in trying it out was when I went to get my eyebrows topped up and found out the lady who does my microblading was also going to be doing microneedling! For me personally, finding a good/trustworthy person to do the treatment is absolutely essential... especially for something like this!
I was super excited to get the treatment done, I really wasn't worried about the pain or anything like that... besides if it hurt it would be worth it right?
To start Chelle put some numbing cream all over my face, I think this was on for about 20 minutes. During this time she explained the process and went over aftercare details ect. Once the numbing cream had kicked in we started with the microneedling. It wasn't really painful at just a scratchy strange feeling! Chelle explained to me how she was changing the needle depth to suit the skin on different parts of my face, so the treatment really is tailored to your skin rather than a 1 size fits all.
It was actually done quite quickly and then of course I had to snap a red faced selfie!
I was quite surprised to see there wasn't actually that much blood, just little specks. After the microneedling was done she then put on a face mask to help soothe the skin. It felt really nice and cooling which was a perfect way to complete the treatment in my opinion.
Ok so directly after having the treatment done my skin felt very plumped and glowing, I still looked slightly red after the face mask but not nearly as much as I was expecting. A mild sunburn look is the best way I can describe it... but to be honest I think my skin looked a pretty much normal colour after a few hours. I'm guessing this would vary depending on your complexion!
Healing and aftercare...
I won't go into too much detail about aftercare as if you choose to get this done your practitioner will go over all the details with you, obviously we all have different skin and allergies ect so what worked for me might be different to you...
But basically I was told to leave my skin alone for the rest of the day then the next day I could wash my face as normal and use a serum given from Chelle morning and night for around 5 days. It's recommended you don't wear any makeup for a week after the treatment.
When I woke up the next day I noticed my skin had a really nice glow to it and smoother texture, it wasn't sore anymore and just looked nice and fresh. After a couple of days I started to get some dry red patches, I wasn't sure if this was due to the serum or because I hadn't been using my usual moisturiser and skincare products. But after checking in with Chelle she assured me this was perfectly normal and was just my old skin shedding and new skin regenerating, which made perfect sense really. I decided to start using my usual moisturiser along with the serum after this and a few days later the dry skin had cleared and new fresh skin was starting to glow!
It has now been a few weeks since getting the microneeding done and the main thing I notice is a massive improvement to my skin texture. I feel like it's a lot smoother and pores look smaller. I also haven't had any breakouts lately (hopefully I don't jinks it)! I use an AHA/BHA cleanser as well as retinol at night and I feel like this treatment has really helped my skin absorb these products a lot better, which i'm sure is also really helping my complexion.
I'm really pleased with the results after 1 treatment, it's recommended to have a course of 3.
If you are interested in getting this facial done I would recommend making sure you go to someone good who knows what they are doing, I can see how it could easily go wrong leaving your skin sore and open to infection. But in the right hands be able to give a real improvement to the skin!
I will leave some details below about where I had my treatment done and prices :-) I would love to know if you have tried microneeding? Also did you enjoy this post? I personally love reading about peoples experiences with different treatments so hope this has been helpful/interesting for some of you!
Thanks so much for reading, I hope you all have a lovely day!
